MOM

On this Mother's Day, my sweet daughter-in-law Amy organized a picnic in the park for me. Five of my kids were there and six grandkids. We had good food, including Tim's smoked salmon and Casi's quinoa salad, and a huge delicious pineapple that Sydney brought. Amy's and Ali's cards were especially meaningful, so I saved them here:

Amy always buoys me up by sincerely listening to me and spending time with me. She has a way of helping me feel that I'm loved just being who I am. I love how Micah calls me Ma, and often calls and invites me over for a meal and a visit.

One thing I think I did right with my kids was giving them the freedom and encouragement to be themselves, to be all they wanted to be; the freedom to make mistakes and still be loved and admired. They have all become productive, confident and capable. They are kind, hard workers, and well engaged with life, and with each other.

I'm not sure I had much to do with how well they turned out (I'm thinking they just came that way), but I'll happily accept this sentiment as a compliment. It's an ego booster!

May 13  MOM
These are my peeps!  It was nice to connect with these fine people and their spouses and kids; eating, laughing, reminiscing. Here's Caleb, Mom (me), Sydney, Ali; with Micah and Josh in back.
