SPOON

August 12

The small spoon (next to a regular size one) was a treasure I found while looking for shells on a beach in Malaga, Spain. It was my only trip out of the country, ever, and the spoon was a souvenir easy to bring home, and didn't cost a thing. When I use it I am taken back to Spain's unique scenery, the tile roofed houses and narrow streets, orange and olive orchards, the Mediterranean Sea...ahhhh

The dipper spoon reminds me of the one my mom used to dip cream off the top of the glass bottles of milk the milkman delivered. The bowl of that dipper was about half the size of the one in the photo. It just fit in the bottle. Sometimes I got the job, so I would get to lick the spoon after the last of the cream was scooped out. I can still remember its cold richness...mmmmm
