DELICIOUS

Always delicious, the food at Cafe Molise is eye candy too.
I had a vegetarian dish - eggplant 'meatballs' or, more deliciously said,
Polpette di Melanzane in a shallot and tomato cream
with grilled fresh summer squash and polenta.

My friend Sherrol had Scampi alla Diavola,
gulf shrimp sautéed in garlic tossed with fettucine
in a spicy tomato and onion sauce.

Both dishes tasted as delicious as they sound!

FACES

August 17

Two of my grandsons made faces for my photo word today, and then we played three rounds of Skip-bo so we could each win one. (And we each did!!)

A few days ago I attended a class on growing tomatoes.
I learned that when the bottom of your big tomato looks like this
it's call cat-facing.

More like the cartoon character Ziggy,
don't you think?

FOOD

August 16

Marlene and I tried a new recipe - pizza "crust" made with 1/4" slices of eggplant.
It's dipped in egg and chopped almonds, baked, then the toppings are added
and baked a little longer. It was veggie, veggie delicious!

SIMPLE

August 13

My tastes are pretty simple, and this food bar with its protein, fiber and energy usually provides one simple meal almost every day. I've eaten them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I buy them 12 dozen at a time to get them at about $1 a bar. That's pretty simple too. There are 3 other flavors, but this one is my fav. It's like a heavy, not-too-sweet brownie with nuts and fruits galore! Yum!

SOMETHING SWEET

May 27   SOMETHING SWEET

My daughter Ali gave me this Wild Woman Truffle spread for Mother's Day. It's sweet and dark chocolaty on the thin crisp water crackers. Even sweeter is the purple ribbon tied around the top of the jar, which is sooo Ali! I leave it there to remind me of my sweet daughter as I'm munching away...

SOMETHING I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT

May  20 SOMETHING I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT

My juice in the morning has become an almost indispensable ritual. I love the colors of the foam. Carrots, celery, romaine lettuce, beets, apples, and lemon are standard ingredients, with a little stevia to balance the lemon. It rehydrates me, satisfies the palate, and digests easily. It nourishes my body while I nourish my spirit by reading the scriptures. I could live without my juice, but what I really couldn't live without is my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ.

SNACK

May 17  SNACK
Nuts and chocolate chips are a favorite snack, and fruit - a container of blueberries, some juicy oranges, Fuji apple slices. These were the first apricots of the season, a little too tart for my liking.
Who would've thought that seaweed would be a tasty snack? The Japanese, I guess. It's paper thin, a bit salty (naturally), and flavored with (in this case) sesame oil. I actually like the wasabe flavor best.

Warm and muggy today,
but no storm.
Love my sky corner!

LOVE

This shirt jumped out at me from the sale rack at Walmart
because it's today's word "love".
It's a little gaudy for my taste, but for 3 bucks it was worth a photo shoot
and then I can take it back!
I love my kids and grandkids.
I love the books Jane Eyre, Robinson Crusoe, and Ickle, Bickle Robin.
Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream.
Avocados.
Clever use of words.
President Hinckley
Moroni (both of them in the Book of Mormon)
Simplicity
Gardens
A million other things!

My newest "love" - Honey flavored Greek Yogurt,
whole milk of course, nothing else added
so you can get the full, slightly tart, slightly sweet goodness of it,
cool and smooth all the way down.
I wish I were good enough with words to describe
the experience of eating this food of the (Greek) gods.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Speaking of "love", and words, I once helped my son Josh
write a poem for a school assignment.
This is what we wrote as far as I can remember:

I love guacamole!
I could eat it by the bowl-e!
It's green and smooth,
And that's the truth!
I love guacamole!
